Founded in 2004 by two French doctors, Professor Bruno Dubois, a neurologist specializing in Alzheimer’s disease, and Dr. Olivier de Ladoucette, a psychiatrist and geriatrician, the Alzheimer Research Foundation is a public interest foundation based at the Pitie Salpetriere Hospital in Paris. Its mission is to support research into Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders, and to advance knowledge on the subject.

Since its creation, the Foundation has provided more than EUR 29 million in funding to over 195 researchers in France and across Europe, with the main objectives of developing early diagnosis and effective treatments. As the leading funder of Alzheimer’s research in France, it received the IDEAS label in 2024. The Foundation also organizes the Alzheimer Talks, public conferences that share the latest therapeutic data and future perspectives on Alzheimer’s disease.

Testimonials

“Thanks to the support of the Alzheimer Research Foundation, my research project on microglial cells, which are essential for brain health, was able to be funded. Together, with the support of donors, we will one day be able to stop Alzheimer’s disease.”

Bruno Colombo, researcher

“The European Grand Prizes for Research provide invaluable support to researchers. Beyond the financial aspect, it is also real recognition for the person who receives it.”

Prof. Christian Haass, 2024 laureate

“Thanks to the Alzheimer Research Foundation, I was able to go to Concordia University in Montreal to finalize my research project using medical imaging to study the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease. Thank you to those who support research and researchers who, like me, are fighting this disease.”
